While only a render, I seriously think this is the only way Ferrari will go next.

Probably not. They only tend to give the XX treatment to their top tier cars at the time, and since the La Ferrari is much higher, it won't happen.

Looks like the new Corvette...

I dunno, the 599XX came out when the Enzo was still king and also had two iterations of FXX developed for it.

The 599XX was unveiled in 2009, two years after the FXX had stopped being produced, and five years after the Enzo. The 599XX EVO stopped being made in 2012, now two years later, here's the FXX K. It's always the top car at the time.

While technically true, the 599 was never above the Enzo. The Enzo was significantly faster than the 599. It would take the F12 to finally unseat the supercar as Ferrari's fastest vehicle, something even the [in my opinion, rubbish] 458 could not do.
This is why I disagree with the assertion that it's always Ferrari's best car that gets an XX project.

I know, but the Enzo was out of production, so at the time, the 599 was the fastest Ferrari in production. That's the point I'm making. There won't be an XX version of the F12 because the La Ferrari is also in production and is faster. Similar to the 575, which was in production at the same time as the Enzo, but never got an XX version. There is the F60 America version, similar to the 575 Superamerica and the 599 GTO though.

I guess I should think of it in terms of production, then, rather than which one is technically the best performer. It does make sense that way; why test limits on a car you aren't actively developing any more?
And while some people think the F60 Superamerica is Super Gauche, I friggin' love it. If I were rich, etc.

The gap between the Enzo and the La Ferrari was far too long to go without a purchasable race car, so they just used the fastest one they were currently building.
Also, the California is my favourite modern Ferrari. The proportions are perfect.

Just about. I think the 599 itself beats it, especially in GTO trim, but I think the new California T is quite attractive.
I just wish they'd stop with the phony lights.

This right here:
Note how the upper lights are not active, save for the CHMSL.

Really? The ones I've seen those lights work as the brake lights. Maybe it's just the laws in your area.
Like this.

It could be dependent on whether the night running lights are on as well.

Even so, it's still odd behavior. Why are there even two sets of tail lights?

It will, though the FXX K will come first.
I mean, what's below the LaFerrari? The F12.
It makes sense that Ferrari offer an XX version, though later than sooner.

By the time they're ready for the next XX car there will be a replacement for the F12. Wikipedia's Ferrari timeline shows how they're consistent with the releases of their cars.

I think it's to do with some laws regarding brake light placement.
